Easter Every Day

Easter Sunday is full. Full of celebration, reflection, and truth we pause to remember.

Many churches see record attendance on Easter Sunday.

But today is quieter.

Changes

The resurrection changes everything, but most days don’t feel like anything has changed.

Death was defeated. God’s promise from the beginning of time was fulfilled. He is alive! He has risen from the grave.

Because of this, our lives are no longer tied to the sacrificial system. Jesus became the one-time sacrifice for all of our sins.

Our goals, worldview, and relationships are all now rooted in the gospel.

Called to Transform

We are called to be transformed, to become more like Christ, and to encourage others in their walk as well.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

-Romans 12:2

Many people discuss this verse with lists of external do’s and don’ts. But it goes much deeper.

Yes, externals do matter, but many of them fall into matters of conscience. Scripture is clear, however, on how we are to love and care for one another, how we view our purpose, and how we live with eternity in mind.

For most of the world, this life is empty. Once death comes, that’s the end, and no one is sure what happens next. Relationships and purpose are temporary, ending when this life ends. As believers in Christ and His resurrection, we know that our relationships and purpose are eternal.

Processing Transformation

Even after the resurrection, people didn’t immediately understand.
They were still processing. Still learning and being transformed.

Thomas didn’t believe at first. He had to touch Christ’s wounds to know and believe the truth.

We are often like that. We struggle to trust that what God says is really true, but over time, we learn that He does keep His promises and never fails.

Transformation isn’t a single moment.
It’s what happens after we encounter the truth.

Practical Steps

I received an email today from the Bible app with the subject, “Easter happened. Now what?” Three of the things that Jesus did after His resurrection were presented: He modeled community, encouraged His followers, and taught the people.

We can follow that example and incorporate the truth of the resurrection into our daily lives:

• Confess and forsake our sin
• Be grateful
• Serve others
• Read God’s Word
• Pray

A Bigger Purpose

The resurrection doesn’t just give us something to celebrate. It gives us something to live for.

It gives us the grace to love others, the ability to see the eternal picture, and the power to overcome sin and death.

Easter isn’t just one day of the year.
It’s just the beginning of what God is doing.
It is the beginning of a life that is still being transformed.
