So often, we get discouraged. We begin to feel worthless–for a number of reasons.

Some of us really feel the weight of our sin and feel like we will never truly overcome the guilt or temptation.

Others feel invisible, as though no one else really cares, and that if they were to disappear it may be weeks before anyone ever notices, if anyone ever does.

Then there are those who get discouraged over financial pressures, health concerns, or uncertain futures.

Whenever discouragement sets in, we must turn to the one source of true encouragement–Christ and His Word.

We can’t conquer that sin by ourselves. Christ forgives and gives the power to overcome.

Maybe that social pit seems endless, but Christ is always there–faithfully loving each of us.

And when it comes to our needs, Christ has promised to provide–and He does so in His perfect time.

God has placed each one of us here on earth for a reason. That reason is not to be perfect–we can’t be. It’s not to accumulate friends or be popular. Health and wealth are not reasons for being on earth. Our purpose is to glorify Him. To get to know Him better and become more like Him!

Discouragement may feel overwhelming, but it never has the final word.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.  For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

-2 Corinthians 4: 16-18, ESV
